The Artist Coalition

There’s nothing better than bragging about your friends.

Seriously, though, that’s what the Artist Collective is all about.

In my journey as an artist, I have been lucky to meet so many talented, generous and kind artists who are oriented towards collaboration rather than competition.

We want one another to succeed, and we believe in the quality and power of the unique work crafted by each of our crew. I am inspired by them, and when we come together, it’s magic.

Robby Holb

Artist Designer Woodworker Educator

Robby uses wood as an artistic medium. His current work includes furniture, wall art, and organic sculptural objects, often combining multiple species for their distinct colors, figures, and textures.

In some of his work, Robby uses elaborate multi-species veneer work that he calls “fractured geometry,” blending elements of marquetry, the distortion and soft focus of his earlier oil paintings, and fine art quilting. Other works explore his fascination with bilateral symmetry and perception, while his more sculptural objects use gradually sweeping organic forms to play with the natural figure and flow of individual pieces of wood. He sees his visual language as emerging from an alternate timeline—“if the 60s and 70s were better.” His work combines contemporary fine art with traditional woodworking techniques.

Robby teaches woodworking and CNC machining at the Boulder Public Library’s Makerspace BLDG 61. He sees the maker movement as an important cultural force and believes creativity is something everyone can claim, not something reserved just for artists. He enjoys helping people turn their ideas into physical objects, demystifying intimidating tools and processes, and giving people the confidence to see themselves as creative people.

Berndt Savig

Sculptor Educator

Berndt specializes in figurative and ornamental stone carving. His work is rooted in the traditions of classical sculpture and architectural ornament, with an emphasis on craftsmanship, direct carving, and the enduring qualities of natural stone. He initially trained in traditional stone carving in Tuscany, Italy, where he developed a deep appreciation for the relationship between the sculptor, the material, and the built environment.

In 1996, he established Boulder Sculpture, serving clients throughout Boulder and Colorado’s Front Range. Berndt’s figurative work explores the human form through a combination of observation, classical influence, and an appreciation for the inherent character of stone. His ornamental work extends this interest into architecture and interior spaces, where carved elements can enrich an environment and create a sense of permanence and individuality. Working primarily in marble and limestone, Berndt allows the qualities of each stone—its color, texture, structure, and natural variation—to contribute to the finished work. His sculptures are intended not simply as objects, but as enduring elements that beautify and enhance the spaces they inhabit, connecting contemporary environments with the long history of stone carving.

Chelsea Shaw

Illustrator Printmaker Creative problem-solver

Chelsea’s whose work celebrates nature and our relationship to it. After earning her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Design from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, she spent a decade building a career in software — a detour that took her away from studio practice but never fully from a creative mindset. She returned to an art form she’d always loved but set aside: linoleum block printing. In rediscovering her own enthusiasm for the craft, she also discovered a passion for teaching it, leading both informal and formal printmaking instruction for adults, with a particular focus on creating space for creative expression among people who don’t often get the chance to make art in their daily lives.

Her work explores both sides of our current climate moment; the joys of our beautiful Earth, and the travesty of carelessness we’re facing. Specifically, water conservation is a large point of focus for her recent work, an issue that Colorado is intimately familiar with. Chelsea’s connection to Boulder took root when she spent a month living in the city full-time as part of the Techstars Sustainability accelerator program. The experience was demanding, but it left a lasting impression — the proximity to nature, the striking scenery, and the strength of the community all struck a chord with an artist who has always cared deeply about the Earth. That connection has stayed with her since, and continues to inform the direction of her work. Her art has been shown in numerous juried exhibitions and was previously installed at the Milwaukee

Art Museum.

Fred Williams

Chef Brewmaster Entrepreneur

Fred is the co-founder of Rev Kombucha in Boulder, Colorado. He began developing Rev in 2016, drawing on culinary training, fermentation, and a long-standing interest in building flavor through tea. Over the years, Rev has served businesses, restaurants, farmers markets, and community events throughout Boulder and the Front Range, with an emphasis on thoughtfully crafted, tea-forward kombucha and sustainable draft service.

Fred is currently helping develop Mude 303, a collaboration between Rev Kombucha and Sans Bar that brings together fermentation, botanicals, functional non-alcoholic beverages, and experiential gatherings built around the question, “How do you want to feel?” The project is being developed through a series of Boulder pop-ups that combine beverage craft with community, conversation, and new approaches to social spaces.
